Suffolk Schools Competition
The Suffolk Schools Competition was first launched in 1994 and has gone from strength to strength and attracts entries from over sixty schools across the County. It is run by the Suffolk Agricultural Association and Muntons plc, in conjunction with Suffolk County Council.
The criteria is based around the theme of Food and Farming and there are categories for Early Years through to key stage 3 and 4, plus an additional category for special schools / classes, are set which all link closely into the National Curriculum.
The competition attracts many sponsors which allow us to award cash prizes to children for their school. First prize winners of each category are given complimentary admission tickets to the Suffolk Show, where their work is displayed and a prize giving takes place.
After the work has been displayed and admired at the show it then goes into storage before it is once again displayed, this time, at the County Harvest Festival at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral.
All invites and details of the competition are sent to Head teachers in all Suffolk Schools via the Suffolk County Council Schools post system in October.
Transport grants are available via the School Farms Links Project to those who wish to make a Farm Visit to help them complete their given project.
