Generous Presidential guests boost funds for Hospice
President of the Suffolk Agricultural Association Mike Hollingsworth together with his wife Mary and daughter Angie Ashby-Hoare held a tea party to hand over £800, raised by guests attending the President’s lunches during this year’s Suffolk Show, to St Elizabeth Hospice his chosen charity for his year in the role.
Guests at the lunches held on both days of the Show were asked to put a donation in envelopes placed on the tables and this was the amount raised.
Mike said:”This is a wonderful association supporting another great charity. The Hospice does a marvellous job in helping so many people at a very difficult time and we had no hesitation in chosing them as our special charity as they do so much good work.”
Cup cakes made by Suffolk Cupcake Company decorated with the Association’s initials and the amount raised were handed over to the Hospice’s Community Fundraisers Laura Backhouse and Rachael Mittell yesterday afternoon (Wednesday June 17) at the Foxhall Road premises.
Laura, community fundraiser at St Elizabeth Hospice commented: “We are very grateful to Mike and the Suffolk Agricultural Association for choosing St Elizabeth Hospice as their charity of the year. We would also like to thank all those who gave donations at the lunches; their support will help us to continue providing all of our wide ranging services free of charge to the local community”.
